The Role

We are looking for a motivated and commercially minded Product Manager – Columbus Instruments Europe to join our team in Dublin.

This is a scientific sales role for someone with a strong science or technical background who wants to build a career on the commercial side of life sciences. You will become the dedicated commercial face of Columbus Instruments across Europe, working directly with researchers to understand their experimental goals and helping them identify the right instrumentation for their work.

You will manage the full sales cycle across academic, pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO and government research institutions, while developing deep expertise in Columbus Instruments’ product portfolio.

About Red Box Direct and Columbus Instruments

  • Red Box Direct is a Dublin-based partner for life science instrument manufacturers expanding into Europe and Asia. Instead of operating as a traditional distributor, we provide dedicated, brand-embedded Product Managers who work directly with customers while representing our partner brands in-market.

  • Columbus Instruments is one of the manufacturers we represent in Europe. Founded in Columbus, Ohio, the company is known for instrumentation used in metabolic phenotyping, automated respirometry, behavioural research, exercise physiology and physiological monitoring.

Its product range includes Oxymax-CLAMS, treadmills, activity wheels and monitors, rotarod and grip strength systems, CI-SHELL, the Micro-Oxymax respirometer and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales and Lead Management: Own and grow the Columbus Instruments customer base across Europe, managing the full sales cycle from prospecting through to close.

  • Customer Relationships: Build lasting relationships with principal investigators, lab managers and procurement contacts, acting as a trusted technical resource rather than just a vendor.

  • Product Consultation: Run product consultations and demonstrations, translating a researcher’s experimental needs into the right system configuration.

  • Conference and Event Representation: Represent Columbus Instruments at conferences, trade shows and university events across Europe to build visibility and generate new leads.

  • Installation and Training Coordination: Work with customers and the Columbus Instruments applications and service team in the US to support a smooth experience from order to first data point.

  • CRM and Market Feedback: Maintain accurate customer and opportunity records, report on pipeline activity, and share customer, competitor and market insights with the wider team.

Who You Are

  • Science-minded: You have a third-level qualification in a life sciences or technical discipline and can speak credibly with researchers about scientific equipment and applications.

  • Relationship-focused: You enjoy building trust with customers and understanding their research needs.

  • Commercially motivated: You have at least 2 years’ experience in sales, business development or another customer-facing commercial role.

  • Confident communicator: You have fluent written and spoken English and are comfortable working with researchers, suppliers and internal teams.

  • Open to travel: You are able to travel across Europe for approximately 30–40% of your time, including customer visits, conferences, trade shows and occasional visits to Columbus Instruments’ US headquarters.

Nice to Have

  • Fluency in an additional European language, such as German, French, Spanish or Italian.

  • Hands-on lab or bench experience with in vivo research, animal physiology, metabolic phenotyping or behavioural neuroscience techniques.

  • Existing connections within the academic or pharmaceutical preclinical research community in Europe.

  • Experience selling capital equipment or working within a manufacturer/distributor sales model.

Why Work With Us?

  • Hybrid Work System: This role is based in our Dublin 14 office, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote per week.

  • Supportive Environment: Red Box Direct was a finalist for the GGoB healthy company all-star awards, reflecting our commitment to employee well-being and a supportive team culture.

  • Personal Development Opportunities: We prioritise personal and professional growth, with full onboarding and product training provided.

  • International Exposure: You will work across the European market and receive training on the Columbus Instruments product range, including time with the applications and service team in the US.

  • Travel Support: Company travel and expenses are covered for customer visits, conferences and trade shows.

Salary Expectations

The base salary range is €45,000–€55,000, depending on experience, with uncapped commission paid on top of base salary.

Location

This is a full-time, permanent role based at Red Box Direct’s office in Dublin 14, with a hybrid working model.

Regular travel across Europe should be expected, including customer site visits, regional conferences and trade shows, as well as occasional visits to Columbus Instruments’ headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.
