Cell Micro Controls designs and produces experimental cell and tissue chambers, heating and perfusion systems, with an emphasis on compatibility with electrophysiology. The company is renowned for its high level of scientific and technical support and its ability to customize designs. At the bottom of this page are a number of detailed PDF brochures covering the Cell Micro Controls range.

Cell Microcontrols Bipolar temperature controller is a a sophiscticated 2 or 3 channel controller suitable to be combined with patchclamping, or other electrophysiological experiments. Using suitable heaters each channel allows feedback regulated temperature control. In addition to heating, the TC2Bip can also be used to drive peltier elements and thus cool solutions.

The mTCII micro temperature controller is a multipurpose microcomputer based temperature controller powerful enough to heat small tissue baths, microscope stages, small animal heater or containrers used in a laboratory. The small form factor allows it to easily fit in most set-ups or for benchtop use. The mTCII has feedback regulated temperature control on both its channels.

In-line heating / cooling

HPRE2

This miniature pre-heater can be combined with the TC2BIP or mTCII heaters. It has a built-in thermistor probe for feedback regulated temperature control. It can bring solutions from roomtemperature to 37șC for volumes up to 4.5 ml/minute.

MPRE8

The MPRE8 is a very elegant 8 channel in-line heater. A built-in thermistor guarantees the temperature till close to the outflow. The MPRE8 is designed to be aimed at and superfuse directly over the preparation. With a dead volume of only 15 ųl, the solution perfusing cell or tissue can be changed in <1 second.

Cooling/Heating module

The cooling/heating module allows to cool as well as heat solutions. Using a heat pipe, the cooled or heated solution can be brought close to the setup. Temperatures as low as 1.0șC at the outflow can be achieved at a flowrate of 1.5ml/min.

This 10 kOhm thermistor is a general purpose submersible mini probe. Due to its small tip (0.45 mm cross section) it can find a place even in very confined spaces.

Heated platforms and coverslips

Using the conductivity of an ITO (indium tin oxide) coating, glass substrates can be used as a transparent heating stage. Thicker glass is used as platforms for upright microscopes, or to heat 35mm dishes, the thinner glass can be used as the bottom of a cell chamber allowing accurate temperature control and sufficient transparency to allow fluorescence experiments. Heaters of various size and thickness are available.

Cell- and tissue chambers

BT1XXx series

The BT-1xxx tissue chambers all have inflow and outflow via a thin slit to promote laminar flow for flow rates up to 2ml/min. In applications using an inverted microscope with air type objective and upright microscope you can use a transparent ITO heater (eg. HI-25, HI-25D) to heat the chamber directly from below. If perfusing, the inflow is heated with the HPRE2 Pre-heater which connects to the inlet tube. The chambers have a thermistor groove to allow permanent placement of the thermistor sensor for measurement/ control of the chamber temperature. With upright microscopes you could also heat the objective with an objective heater (eg. HLS-1P). The flyer show the currents series of chamber. The chambers can also be customized to your demands.

The Culture Chamber System uses a low cost but complete cell perfusion chamber (BT-CS) for culturing cells that can subsequently be transferred to the measuring setup. The chambers are placed in a platform that can be fit on any microscope. For excitable cells, a set of platinum electrodes is available that clicks into the chamber.

Perfusion control

Cell microcontrols provides 8 channel perfusion controllers. The system consists of electronically switched pinchvalves through which the tubing runs and is driver by a programmable interface. The CFlow can be used as a simple switching device, where each channel can be controlled separately. Operation can be manually or via a RS232 port. In addition to switching, the flow volume can also be controlled using drop sensors. With the drop sensors the flow rate can be variably controlled between 01-10ml/minute.
